| Man A Fre is proud to
introduce its new line of extreme duty tie rods and relay rods for the
40", 60" and 80" series Land Cruisers. Each of these is seriously
improved over its stock
counterpart. Each rod is a split design with a tie rod clamp versus the
jam nut design
which will loosen during articulation ( a lesson learned on the two ARCA
land cruisers piloted
by Tracy Jordan and Don Robbins). Our FJ40 tie rod boasts 1 1/4" .250 DOM versus the stock at 1" .145 wall while the relay rod gets an upgrade from a marginal 7/8" .172 wall to a 1" .219 wall. Both the FJ80 and FJ60 tie rods are constructed of 1 3/8" diameter .281 wall drawn over mandrel steel, replacing 1 1/8" .188 wall. Relay rods for the two are 1 1/4" .250 wall and replace 1 1/16" .158 wall While the stock steering components seem adequate for most driving conditions and conservative tire sizes (e.g. grocery getters), tie rod upgrades are sensible insurance when stepping up to those 35" and larger tires or negotiating those 4+ trails Oh, and may we suggest a few warm up reps at the gym before installing these....they are extremely heavy!
