Many of us that own modified
FJ40's have known that the limiting factor for travel on the front
suspension is the shock absorber
mounting. The short distance between the upper and lower mounting pins meant
that the only way to install longer shocks was to limit the axles upward
travel, and sacrifice the use of the entire front fender opening, and our
suspensions potential upward travel. Now
there is a cure from 4+Plus. 4+plus Long Travel Shock Towers are 2-1/2"
taller than the OEM towers they replace, and like all 4+Plus
products they are stronger than the units they replace. Built from 3/8" and
5/8" plate steel, with CNC machined shock pins, these towers allow the use
of shocks that are 2-1/2" longer in compressed length than the OEM set up.
This translates into an extra 2-1/2" of droop
potential and axle travel. This will also allow quite a bit more
articulation out of the front axle. Installation requires grinding off, or
drilling rivets that hold OEM towers in position. Some vehicles may require
trimming inner fender skirt to clear shock. Painted black, sold in pairs.
"Note: Due to increased droop with these shock towers you must check your
brake lines to insure they have enough length. See our SS brake lines."
