4” Rock Crawler Kit
An off the shelf kit that is just shy of a competition level rock crawler
suspension? Yes this is it. This is our 4” Safari Suspension kit with
shackle reversal taken to the extreme for off-roading. When Don Robbins and
Tracey Jordan were competing in the ARCA series with real FJ40’s a few years
ago, a slightly modified version of this exact kit is what was on both of
their winning ARCA rigs. Not only will this suspension deliver unbelieveable
off road performance, it will also dramatically improve on road handling,
steering control and ride quality. How is this possible? We built a kit with
the best components available, around the idea of keeping the axles above
the leaf springs to maintain as low a center of gravity as possible, while
achieving unparralelled suspension travel. On the front suspenison we start
with our 8 leaf 2-1/2” Safari Springs for fllexibility and control. We then
add our 4+Plus Shackle Reversal kit, that improves the front approach angle
and handling characteristics while eliminating bump steer. 4+Plus U-bolt
Flip Kits make sure there is nothing hanging down to catch on obstacles
while sliding over boulders, and our 4+Plus Long Travel Shock Towers allow
use of extra long shocks to maximize potential axle travel and articulation.
Add Old Man Emu long travel shocks, 4+Plus greasable HD shackles and MAF
greasable spring pins and you have the best off the shelf front suspension
for a 40 series you can buy. |
For the rear suspension we use our 5 leaf 4” Safari springs, with 4+Plus
U-bolt Flip Kits, Old Man Emu Long travel shock absorbers, 4+Plus super HD
GSK greasable shackles, and MAF greasable spring pins. This set up will more
than double rear axle travel over stock, while improving ride quality and
control. Unlike spring over axle conversions, there are no issues with
spring torque wrap, high center of gravity, and poor handling on road.
To finish out this kit we provide a full set of MAF polyurethane bushings,
extended frame to axle stainless steel braided brake lines, and a premium
Old Man Emu steering dampener(yes it can be used with saginaw, look at the
picture of the dark blue FJ40 above). There is no other kit you can buy that
will deliver anywhere near the all around improvements both on and off road
that this kit will. So if you are looking to get into some serious off
roading, but don't want to sacrifice on road drivability, and want a kit
that will supply you everything you need, this is the kit for you. If
running Saginaw steering, simply request a free weld on tab for your tie
