Engine oil is the thin film
that keeps main & rod bearings from seizing, and pistons sliding smoothly.
Optimum engine oil temperature is 160 to 185 degrees F, but normal engine-oil
operating temperatures are between 175 and 220 degrees. Under heavy
loads, and towing conditions oil temperatures can get well above 270
degrees, which is quite a bit higher than the danger zone of 210 degrees.
Enter the engine oil cooler, or more simply a radiator for your engine
oil. By keeping engine oil temperatures in the optimum temperature range,
overall engine life can be significantly increased. We offer two styles
of engine oil coolers for use on your Land Cruiser. First is a heavy
duty tube & fin style (3/4 inches x 7 1/2 inches x 17 3/4 inches) for
most applications, and second is a header/manifold cross flow style
(2 inches x 11 inches x 3 1/2 inches) for high performance applications.
Kits come complete with 10 feet of high-temperature oil-line, thermostatically
controlled sandwich adapter, and other required hardware.
