Thermostats regulate the flow and temperature of your cooling system. When a thermostat fails, or sticks your vehicle will run hot, or overheat which is one of the leading causes of engine failure on a Land Cruiser. Running without a thermostat is not a good idea on a Land Cruiser, as unlike American automobiles a Land Cruisers thermostat also controls internal coolant flow, and removal will cause the gauge to read cool, while the rear 2 cylinders in the block receive almost no flow and bake. Thermostats for F, 2F, and 3F are available in stock 190 deg version or a cooler 180 deg. FZJ80 Thermostats are available in the stock 190 deg version or a TRD 160 deg low temp version , that is quite pricey, but is designed to help cure hot running Super Charged FZJ's.
