These are OEM Toyota Land Cruiser H55 5-speed overdrive transmissions, available with or without transfer case. Now available
in new, used, and rebuilt form. With or without transfer case. The beauty of these units is in their compatibility with O.E.
bellhousings, clutch parts, mounts, shift lever holes, pilot bearing, V-8 conversion kits, etc.. On some later model FJ60's (1985 & newer) no modification to drive shafts is required for installation, they are a bolt-in item! If using with a V-8 conversion, the H55 has the same front bearing retainer pattern as the factory 4 speed, and is compatible with the same V-8 conversion kits from Advance Adapters. This is the easiest 5speed conversion for your Land Cruiser, because it is a Land Cruiser transmission. First gear is a 4.843:1, 2nd is 2.619:1, 3rd is 1.516:1, 4th is 1:1, and fifth is .845:1 overdrive. New units are factory fresh from Toyota, but require some additional parts for most installations. Used, and rebuilt units are imported from overseas, rebuilding is done at our facilities in Simi Valley, unless otherwise noted. Drive shaft, and trans cover modifications are required on most FJ40/55 installations. It will also be necessary to either install the parking brake kit into the transfer case or convert to a rear axle w/built in parking brake capability on pre 7/1980 vehicles. Since the shifter is located at rear of trans top cover, and the transmission belly has built in bosses for a large mount, this is an ideal unit for V-8 applications. FJ60's built prior to 1985 will require drive shaft mods, and the later FJ60 speedo cable. We have also successfully installed this transmission into 88-90 FJ62's. This conversion from the factory automatic is somewhat more involved, but the performance and mileage gains are quite impressive. Changing over the FJ62 requires a bellhousing, special 3FE flywheel, clutch components, clutch hydraulic system, trans cover mods and changing the pedal assembly. Call our technical staff for more information on this conversion. Shift levers included on used & rebuilt units, sold separately w/new transmissions. Shift knobs sold separately.Used units are for those who prefer to do their own rebuild, or have it done locally. We have had many customers put these in without rebuilding, and have had no problems, but they do not carry a warranty. Rebuilt units are completely disassembled and cleaned, all main support bearings, gaskets, and seals are replaced, along with 3-5 gear synchros, and all other parts not within factory specs. Our rebuilt units are warrantied for 12 months against defects in materials and workmanship. New transmissions carry a 12 month warranty from Toyota Motor Corp. When buying a rebuilt unit we can install a lo-range gear set in the transfer case for no additional labor, only the parts cost will be added. The same applies for those that need to have the parking brake added to the transfer case for installations in pre 7/1980 Fj40 or FJ55, there is no additional labor charges, parts cost only will be added.
