Q: I have a 2007 FJ Cruiser, 4WD. How
difficult is the installation? Are there any specialty tools that I would
need? A: Rear springs and shocks are a piece of cake. Front struts on the other hand are a bit of a challenge. Attached are a few shots of installing a front OME strut into an FJ Cruise. To install the fronts, you will have to disconnect sway bar links, upper control arms, brake lines, and tie rods from the spindle/hub. Install the strut assembly into the top bucket, then pry lower end into place. Helps if you have a hoist, ball joint separators, and a friend.
